How Should a Consultant Find Work in the Netherlands?

After working for a small consulting firm for more than two years in the Netherlands, I took a senior analyst/consulting position with a reputable U.S.-based market analyst/consulting firm focused on the information-technology market. Unfortunately, the firm is cutting jobs and ended my contract after only three months. I was happy with the firm and the type of work. Any advice for finding a similar position in the Netherlands? – read answer

When Put on Hold, Don't Stop Job Hunting

My prospective employer, a well-known consulting firm, has deferred my start date for three to four months. I've yet to receive confirmation of my new start date but will receive 50% of my salary pro rata and a signing bonus. Should I look elsewhere, given that most consultancies seem to be suffering? I'm working in a small innovative consultancy where there's no room for advancement.

I'm debating the value of further study (at university I studied languages and majored in strategic management), but it's too soon for a master's degree in business administration and a Ph.D. seems too specialized. I'm also considering trying to break into journalism. Please advise. – read answer
