After working for a small consulting firm for more than two years in the Netherlands, I took a senior analyst/consulting position with a reputable U.S.-based market analyst/consulting firm focused on the information-technology market. Unfortunately, the firm is cutting jobs and ended my contract after only three months. I was happy with the firm and the type of work. Any advice for finding a similar position in the Netherlands?
I have just moved to a new city with my family. While I can not speak and understand the local language, I also know that English is widely used. However my interviewers think my previous pay was way too high from what they can offer, and the language is going to be an issue. How can I convince them that I'm willing to take a lower pay, and the language is not going to affect what I can offer as an IT professional?
My prospective employer, a well-known consulting firm, has deferred my start date for three to four months. I've yet to receive confirmation of my new start date but will receive 50% of my salary pro rata and a signing bonus. Should I look elsewhere, given that most consultancies seem to be suffering? I'm working in a small innovative consultancy where there's no room for advancement.
